Meet Our Writers
Rich Christian, a former skeptic, is the founder of Razor Swift. When a challenging injury sidelined him from life, this existential moment forced him to intensely research his beliefs as a Christian and those of others. In time, he was doing apologetics, not knowing there was such a field of study within Christianity. While his research has focused primarily on cults, he also engages atheism, the new age and other worldviews.
Laura Rupers is a wife, homeschool mom, educator, writer, public speaker, and above all, believer in Jesus Christ. After having beaten breast cancer, the southern girl has poured her passion into Bible study, evangelism (especially to Jehovah’s Witnesses), and the edification of the body of Christ. Laura also enjoys musical theatre, designing costumes, creating themed sweets, storytelling, and being involved with her T.O.P.S. (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight loss club.
Jay Hess is the Teaching/Senior Elder at Grace Christian Fellowship, an evangelical church in Garner, North Carolina. He has been an associate member of the Evangelical Theological Society since 1995. He was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness and was briefly associated with the Watchtower’s writing department. In 1991 the Watchtower Society brought charges against him for worshiping Jesus and was disfellowshipped (excommunicated) because he would not repent. He is retired from IBM and married to Linda, also an ex-JW. Church’s website: http://gcfjc.org/
Sally was a Jehovah’s Witness for 16 years. After becoming a Christian, she left the organization and got involved in the Ex-Jehovah’s Witness community online. Sally has been engaged in apologetics since 2014 and is currently going to college, in the pursuit of a degree in theology. She’s also the author of the blog, jwinform.com.
Melissa Dougherty is a wife, mother, author, artist, and former new ager called into ministry to Jehovah’s Witnesses, LDS, and new agers. She was born again when she was 16, but fell into New Thought Christianity until two nice Jehovah’s Witnesses challenged her beliefs and caused her to stumble (gratefully) out of the new age, and into ministry and a love for apologetics. Being a classic introvert, she makes her living off of painting and selling her art, enjoys reading, the opera, and intellectual conversation.
Deanna Hudson, at the age of 20, married a former Jehovah’s Witness which consequently embarked her on an objective study of the Bible, which led to her understanding of the error of the Watchtower. After a series of traumatic life events, she found herself in despair and surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. This led her into a passionate outreach to the lost and broken, in particular, those held captive under the rule of the WTBTS. Deanna enjoys reading, journaling, and spending time with her three boys. She is currently learning to play violin.
Pastor Brock Marshall, is a former 4th generation Jehovah’s Witness who came to faith after trying to convert his Mormon girlfriend [now wife] into his religion. In the process of prayer, scriptural study and much self-examination; found the authority of faith did not rest in any religious paradigm, but in the High Priest, mediator and God incarnate Jesus Christ. After becoming a Christian, Brock enrolled as an undergraduate at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary majoring in Pastoral Ministry and served in the capacity of Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor.
